Poem: Time passing

 

How many decades did it take

for this oak

to swallow this fence.

How many people noticed?

 

Did they consider stopping the process?

Or did they just consider their own mortality?

Union St. Marker Guards Confederate Graves

     Cement street markers like these were once all across Montgomery...this one marking the corner of Union Street and Genetta Street.
     At some point modern signs replaced the concrete posts.         
     Eventually those old signs were used to line some of the roads in Oakwood Cemetery in Montgomery.
     Whether by chance or planning, the Union Street marker ended up overlooking a field of confederate graves.
