The Union Keeping Guard Over Confederate Graves

 

An old concrete street marker is repurposed at a Montgomery Cemetery, marking the edge of a path, and unintentionally keeping a "Union watch" over a group of Confederate graves.

     Cement street markers like these were once all across Montgomery...this one marking the corner of Union Street and Genetta Street.
     At some point modern signs replaced the concrete posts.         
     Eventually those old signs were used to line some of the roads in Oakwood Cemetery in Montgomery.
     Whether by chance or planning, the Union Street marker ended up overlooking a field of confederate graves.
